We are pleased to feature two notable recent publications authored by our faculty Dr. Atul K. Taneja, that highlight significant advancements in diagnostic imaging of the foot. The first, titled "Imaging Features of Plantar Vein Thrombosis: An Easily Overlooked Condition in the Differential Diagnosis of Foot Pain," published in Diagnostics (IF: 3.0), reviews the complexities of diagnosing plantar vein thrombosis (PVT), emphasizing its overlooked nature and detailing critical imaging characteristics essential for accurate diagnosis and differentiation from other foot pain causes [1]. The second publication, "Magnetic Resonance Imaging Features of Plantar Vein Thrombosis," also featured in Diagnostics (IF: 3.0), provides an extensive analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in cases of PVT. This article underscores MRI’s effectiveness in identifying specific imaging markers such as perivascular edema, venous ectasia, and intraluminal thrombi, significantly contributing to better clinical recognition and management of this underdiagnosed condition [2]. Both studies underscore the importance of the radiologist to be aware of such entity for an accurate and early diagnosis. Enjoy both articles for free at their open access links below.
